Happy Birthday to Me!

Today is my birthday. I'm a whole year old today. Mommy and Daddy say it went by fast, but I don't think so. It's taken my whole life just to get here!

We didn't do much today. I had lunch with Mommy, Daddy, and Aunt Christy. But, the weekend before last, I had a big Wolfpack party for my birthday. Lots and lots of people came to see me. We all ate together, and I got to open presents. I got lots of neat toys and cool clothes. I even got a card that sings! I love to open it up and dance to the music (Dad: over and over and over again). The best part though was when I got my own cake. There was a candle, and everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to me. Then I tasted it, and it was GOOD, so I started stuffing it into my mouth. After a while I got full though, so I decided to just smash the rest of the cake into pieces (Dad: and fling them all over the dining room). I had so much fun at my birthday party. It was so good to see everybody.

Right before the party we went to Nana C and Papaw's house for my first ever Thanksgiving. I really like Thanksgiving. There was so much good food to eat. I got macaroni and cheese, cranberry salad, bread, and pineapples. I also got to see my aunts and uncles and cousins. I also got to see my Mamaw, and she is very sick. I like seeing the birds in the cage at her nursing home, but it made sad to see her feel so bad. Please say a prayer for her.

Right now, we are all getting ready for Christmas. You won't believe this, but there is a tree in our house. Not only that, but it has lights and shiny balls on it. It is the coolest thing. I'm a very good boy though and I don't mess with it. There are presents underneath it too. I can't wait to open them!

I'm getting very excited about Christmas. I'll be sure to tell you all about it!

Rough times

I wish I could tell you things have been good here, but we've had a rough couple of weeks. My first ever ear infection turned into a month-long one. I went back to see Dr. Nechyba a couple of weeks ago and he gave me another antibiotic that seemed like it was working. About a week after I stopped taking my medicine, my ear started hurting again and I was fussy, especially at night. Mommy took me back to the doctor and I got to see the very nice Physician's Assistant, Jennifer. She told me my ear still looked bad and put me on a very strong medicine. I had to go back on Monday to make sure the medicine was working and it wasn't, so I had to have SHOTS. I was brave and I tried not to cry, but they hurt so much. I had to have one every day for three days. The good news is my ear infection is much better now and I'm feeling like my old self.

Last Tuesday I also took a little tumble. I didn't know I could fit through the banister upstairs and I fell about four feet to the step below. I skinned my head and it scared me alot, but thank goodness I didn't get hurt. Mommy and Daddy called Dr. Nechyba and he told them to wake me up after I'd been asleep for a couple hours. Now I've always liked that Dr. Nechyba, but that made me mad. I finally fell back asleep about an hour later. The next morning I was going to get my shot anyway, so I got to see Jennifer again at the doctor's office. She checked me out and said I was okay.

Also my Mamaw Beulah has been very sick in the hospital. She started feeling a little better, but she's not doing good at all right now. Mommy, Daddy and I love her so much and we just want to be with her right now. Please say prayers for her and for my family.

We are headed to Asheville tomorrow for Thanksgiving. We will be coming back on Friday so we can get ready for my birthday party on Sunday. Mommy and Daddy can't believe I'm already a year old!

Evan walks

This is Evan's mom...I wanted to post this video of him walking for everyone to see. He does great until he faceplants at the end of his trip.

Sorry

I've been doing a very bad job keeping you guys up to date on what's going on with me. It's been a whole month since I last posted!!

Since then, I've gone to another Wolfpack football game (they lost this time though) and took a road trip to Georgia for a family reunion and wedding. Guess what? My mommy was sick and my Aunt Christy had been in the hospital, so Daddy took me all by himself. I loved getting to see my Grandmama and all of my aunts, uncles and cousins. I went to my cousin, Lauryn's wedding. It was the first time I had ever seen two people get married. She sure looked beautiful and I was glad I got to meet Molly Evan.

The next weekend, I visited Asheville for my Aunt Christy and Uncle Mark's baby showers. I got to see lots of my family and friends there and boy did I get alot of kisses. On Sunday I was dedicated at the church where my mommy grew up. My Gramma and Grampa came up from Mooresville, my Mamaw Helen, Aunt Terry, Aunt Brenda and Caleb came from Haywood County and my Aunt Sharon, Uncle Jeff, Sean and Jenna made it too. I was very excited to see my Uncle Mark's mom and dad there. They are very special to me.

When I got home I didn't feel good and I was running a fever, so Mommy and Daddy took me to see Dr. Nechyba. He said I had an ear infection and gave me some yummy tasting medicine. We went back a few days later to make sure the medicine was working and it was, but very slowly. I still felt bad the next week and I was running a fever again, so I changed to a different medicine. It was yummy too and I feel much better.

Mommy had to take Aunt Christy to the doctor on Wednesday this past week, so I got to stay with my Nana B and Granddaddy. Aunt Christy has been very sick. She's passed out a couple of times and been in and out of the emergency room. She hasn't been able to go to work (which I love, but I don't think she does) because she's light headed and dizzy. She's had alot of doctors visits lately and she is tired of not feeling good. Please say prayers that she feels better and that my baby cousin continues to be okay. Also pray for Mark because sometimes my Aunt Christy cries alot. Mommy says that has to do with her having a baby in her tummy, but I say I've never seen a grown up cry more than me!

Lastly, I got to go trick-or-treating for the first time last week. I dressed up as a monkey and went knocking on my neighbors' doors and they gave me candy. My Nana C, Nana B, Granddaddy, Uncle Mark and Aunt Christy came over to watch me get dressed and to have dinner with us. On Saturday, Mommy, Daddy, Aunt Christy and Uncle Mark went to Virginia to see Carol and Louis get married. I stayed with my Nana C while they were gone and had a great time. When they got back on Sunday I surprised them by walking all by myself that afternoon. I can take six, seven or sometimes more steps before I get tired and have to sit down. I'm such a big boy!!

I'll try to do better about posting this month! Before I go, I'll say Happy Birthday to my friend, Holden, who turned 5 today and Happy Anniversary to my Mommy and Daddy. They were married 8 years ago today!!!

Reunited with an Old Friend

This is a picture of me with my old friend the vacuum. Mommy and Daddy used to run it so I would stop crying. Now I just like to play with the power cord.

I keep getting bigger all of the time. Last weekend, I took three steps all by myself! Ok, I held Daddy's finger for the last one, but the first two were all by myself. I haven't done it too much since then though. The first time I did it, Mommy and Daddy yelled so loud they scared me, so I'm not going to do it again until I think they can handle it.

Last Wednesday I got to do something very fun. Aunt Becky, Uncle Dan and Elizabeth met Mommy, Daddy and me for a trip to the farm. We got to ride on a train, feed some goats (I really wanted to get in that fence, but Daddy wouldn't let me), and go on a hay ride. We also got to pick out pumpkins to take home with us. Afterwards we all went to lunch. I can't wait until I'm big like Elizabeth. She got to drink chocolate milk and eat chicken tenders. I had to stick with bites of cheese and carrots.

On Friday, Uncle Mark's mom and dad were in town so we went to dinner. I was a good boy and loved eating bread and bites of my mommy's pasta. Mommy says I'm going to love carbs as much as she does. Saturday was very busy. We went to the NC State game to see the Wolfpack play Boston College. One time, I got hot and the noise was too much, so Mommy took me downstairs to feed me lunch. I finally calmed down and was happy again when Mommy took me to the part of the stadium where all the sorority girls sit (Mom's note-this is no lie. He quit crying immediately when all the girls started walking by). The Pack played a good game, but they lost by one touchdown.

Today we've just hung out at home. Mommy and Daddy took turns painting the bathroom downstairs while the other one played with me. I can't wait to see it when it's done. I hope the new toilet flusher is as fun to use as the old one.

I'll write again when I get back from Georgia this weekend. I can't wait to see Lauryn get married and to hang out with all of my family down there.

Big Boy PJs!

I'm getting to be such a big boy. First, my mommy got me some new pajamas -- they have separate bottoms and tops, and they don't have feet! Also, I have four teeth now -- well, okay, three and a half, but that fourth one is almost all the way in. I also learned how to wave. I do it whenever someone tells me hello or goodbye. Or really any time I think someone might need waving at. But here's the best part -- I can feed myself now! Mommy and Daddy will put food on my tray and I get to pick it up all by myself and eat it.

I've started going to Kindermusik again. We sing songs, play with instruments, and dance. Today we got ride around the room in laundry baskets. I shared my basket with my friend Peyton. We had fun. I kept playing with her leg. Mommy though that was really funny, but I'm not sure why.

This weekend I'm staying with Nana B and Grandaddy while Mommy and Daddy go to a football game. I'm looking forward to it because I haven't seen them in a while. My grandaddy sounds so much better now when I talk to him on the phone. Daddy says he's almost back to his old self. I can't wait to give him and Nana a big hug (and to show them how to wave!).

One bad thing did happen this week -- I got my first ever black eye. I was trying to climb up on my toy piano and slipped and hit my eye. It swelled up and turned blue. Mommy was very upset, but Daddy told me it looked like I was wearing eye shadow! I'm sure it will get better soon.

My First Visit to Carter Finley

I've done so many things the last two weeks: stayed with my Nana and Papaw while Mommy and Daddy went out of town for a day, gone to eat lunch with friends, started back at Kindermusik, gone to visit my daddy's new office, and saw my first Tropical Storm move through our city. BUT on Saturday, I got to go to a real live football game to see the Wolfpack play. At first, I was having fun with everyone in the stands, but then I got a little hot with the sun directly in my face. I cried and Mommy took me downstairs to sit in the shade. She said it was okay, and that the Wolfpack were playing crummy anyway. Later, Daddy came to get me and Mommy went back upstairs. When the sun went down, we all went back up to watch the game. It was so fun to see all the people and to hear the band. I loved watching the game and liked the three little girls sitting behind us! I got to meet my Mommy and Daddy's friends, Brian and Leigh Kiser and their little girl, Riley. I wasn't ready to go yet, but Mommy and Daddy said we had to leave during the 3rd quarter so I could go home and get to bed. I was so excited about my first game and Mommy and Daddy were excited they FINALLY got to see the Wolfpack score. They even won the game!! Yay!
